SEO London (“Sponsors for Educational Opportunity”) is an organisation that delivers educational support via quality mentoring, in-depth training, internships, and career opportunities to those from poorly represented and under-served backgrounds, helping them to capitalise on various life opportunities, whether that be at university or by providing future career prospects.
With the help of SEO, students can secure places at many of the most rewarding and gratifying internship and graduation schemes available in the United Kingdom. SEO London also provides a wide-ranging training initiative, with mentoring through an engaging platform that provides students with the skills for long-term success. SEO’s knowledgeable staff inform students of the correct internships for them, discussing the various options available to best suit their future goals and aspirations.
Since its inception in 2000, SEO London has assisted in excess of 5,000 undergraduates in obtaining places on many partner firm talent programmes. And in 2015, 920 undergraduates have secured places with many of the most respected employers in the UK; over 80% of SEO interns convert their summer internship experiences into full-time positions with partnering firms. SEO offers GCSE and A Level students the chance to become SEO Scholars, ensuring that even more students than ever before can excel at school, secure university spots, and have access to jobs and careers they had formerly been underrepresented in.
In 2016, SEO partnered with the Royal Academy of Engineering, launching an engineering programme specifically designed to connect talented young engineers from under-represented backgrounds with primary UK engineering firms keen to assist their entry into a skilled professional marketplace; the aim to empower individuals to take up positions that through other normal channels would have likely been beyond their reach, and to help eradicate the ethnic and socio-economic obstacles faced by those wanting to work in the engineering sector.
